BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield wrestling team (8-5) meets No. 12 Central Michigan Sunday at Cal Poly in the regular season finale.
The Chippewas are 13-3 in dual competition at the start of the week. Central Michigan is at Stanford Saturday afternoon before traveling to face Cal Poly at 1 p.m. Sunday. The CSUB-CMU dual is set for 3 p.m.
The Roadrunners completed the Pac-12 dual portion of the schedule with a 24-13 victory over Stanford last Sunday in the Icardo Center. CSUB earned six victories among the 10 matches, posting bonus points at 133 and 174 where Bryce Hammond (R-Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS) won his team leading 29th match of the year.
Hammond is ranked in five polls this week while Tyler Iwamura (R-Sr., San Diego, Calif., Santa Fe Christian HS) is ranked in three polls. Ian Nickell (R-Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS) who returned to the mat early from his broken right thumb at the Stanford dual, has earned the highest Roadrunner ranking, No. 15, in the WIN Magazine poll.
Hammond, Nickell, and Timmy Box (R-Fr., 141, Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS), the three newcomers to the CSUB starting lineup this season are a combined 75-25 this season. Hammond is first on the team in victories (29), Nickell is second (24) while Box is third (22).
