5 In Double Figures Lead CSUB Past UNO 78-59

NEW ORLEANS, La.--All five CSU Bakersfield starters scored in double figures to lead the Roadrunners past the New Orleans 78-59 in women's basketball action Monday afternoon.

Janae Coffee (R-So., Fresno, Calif., Long Beach State) led CSUB to its eighth victory in a row (10-15) by tying the school Division I record of 18 rebounds. Naomi Johnson had 18 boards against Loyola Marymount Dec. 28, 2007. The 6-4 center scored 14 points.

Amber Williams (Sr., Fontana, Calif., Etiwanda HS) surpassed the 1,500 career point plateau with a Roadrunner high 16 points. Dajy Vines (R-So., Oxnard, Calif., Santa Maria HS) posted 15 points. Tyonna Outland (R-So., Compton, Calif., Lynwood HS) and Ciarra Ford (Sr., Long Beach, Calif., Mt. Sac College) both had 10.

The game was tied 29-29 at halftime. CSUB broke the game open with a 15-5 run midway through the second half. The Roadrunners shot 50% (17-of-34) in the second half while allowing just eight UNO (2-19) field goals. CSUB outrebounded New Orleans 52-34 and scored 24 points off of 16 UNO turnovers.

The Roadrunners, who have tied their Division I record for consecutive victories, host Chicago State Saturday night at 7 p.m.
