Box Score PHOENIX, Ariz.--The Bakersfield volleyball swept Grand Canyon 3-0 Monday night in Western Athletic Conference action. The Roadrunners (19-11, 11-4 WAC) ensured themselves either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed in next week's WAC Tournament.
Bakersfield outhit Grand Canyon .226 to .134. The 'Runners also had more kills (56-31), assists (54-30), service aces (4-3) and digs (73-57), but were out-blocked 7-2 on the match.
Debora Araujo (Sr., Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Western Nebraska C.C.) led all players with 17 kills and 16 digs. It was Araujo's 11th double-double of the season. Molly O'Hagan (Jr., Tonganoxie, Kan., Tonganoxie HS) added 11 kills, while Julia Bowen (Sr., Ottawa, Ontario, Wilfred Laurer Univ.) had a career high 10 kills . Fernanda Gonçalves (Sr., Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Western Nebraska C.C.) was just shy of her 14th double-double, finishing with 41 assists and nine digs. Mariah Alvidrez (R-Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) had a match-high 18 digs.
The Roadrunners conclude the regular season Wednesday nigh at Texas-Pan American. If the 'Runners win, the team takes the No. 2 seed even if the program ends in the season in a tie with Utah Valley as CSUB holds the head-to-head tiebreaker. First serve is set for 7 p.m. (CST).
