BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The Bakersfield men's soccer team travels to Grand Canyon and Air Force this weekend.
The Roadrunners are at Grand Canyon Friday beginning at 7 p.m. before flying to Air Force for Sunday's match which will begin at 1 p.m. (MDT).
Entering this weekend's play, Bakersfield is second in the league with 13 points (4-2-1, 6-7-2). Seattle U is in first with 17 points (5-0-2, 6-8-3). All seven eligbile teams make the WAC Tournament, but the No. 1 seed gets a first round bye. UNLV is third at 12 points (4-3, 6-9) followed by Kansas City (10, 3-3-1, 4-7-4), Air Force (7, 1-1-4, 1-9-4), Houston Baptist (7, 2-4-1, 7-6-1), and San José Sate (7, 2-4-1, 2-10-3).
The Roadrunners are playing Grand Canyon for the first time at the Division I level. Both teams were members of the Division II CCAA Conference at one point. The 'Runners lead the all-time series 20-5. The Antelopes has lost its last three matches by two or more goals after losing its previous five by just one. Kyle Ciliento is one goal shy of tying the school record of 55 career goals entering the weekend.
The 'Runners lead the all-time series against Air Force 3-2-1. Bakersfield and the Falcons played to a 1-1 tie during the regular season a year ago before AFA defeated the 'Runners 2-1 in overtime during the conference tournament. After starting the season with an eight-game losing streak, the Falcons are 1-1-4 in its last six matches. Air Force has played three consecutive 1-1 ties entering the weekend. Jake Schenk is third in the WAC in saves with 55.
