CSUB Heads To No. 17 NC State This Weekend

BAKERSFIELD, Calif..--CSU Bakersfield (19-20) heads to No. 17 North Carolina State (30-12) for a three-game set this weekend in Raleigh. Friday and Saturday's games begin at 3:30 p.m. (PDT) with the Sunday finale getting underway at 10 a.m. This is the first series between CSU Bakersfield and North Carolina State in baseball.

The Wolfpack are ranked 17th in two of the four major baseball polls entering the week. North Carolina State swept Duke last weekend in Raleigh. Chris Diaz leads the team in hitting (.390). Ryan Mathews has hit a team leading seven home runs while Danny Canela paces the squad in RBI's (36). Carlos Rodon is the Wolfpack's number one starter. He is 8-0 with a 1.42 ERA, striking out 97 in 82.1 innings.

CSU Bakersfield and Nebraska split a doubleheader Apr. 28 in Lincoln. The scheduled Sunday game between the two teams was rained out. Kevin Younger (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty  HS) hit .400 in the two games for CSUB.

Prior to the decision being made to call off the Apr. 29 game against Nebraska, CSUB and the Huskers entertained the fans with an impromptu dance off. The entertainment provided by both teams to the crowd that stuck around Hawks Field was captured by the media and has been featured on sportscasts throughout the United States as well as making No. 10 on ESPN's Top 10 Plays of the Day Apr. 30.
