BAKERSFIELD,
Calif.—CSU Bakersfield (22-29) took
advantage of seven Roadrunner batters hit by a pitch to defeat Cal State
Northridge (23-27) Tuesday night at Hardt Field.
The seven hit batsmen broke the previous school record of
four which had been reached three other times, most recently during the 2010

by Baylor earlier in the 2012 campaign.

RBI's from DC Legg (R-Sr., Murrieta, Calif., Cypress College) and Andrew Letourneau (Sr., Bakersfield,
Calif., Bakersfield College).
CSUB added two more in the bottom of the third.
Three Roadrunners were hit by a pitch in the fifth leading
to one run. Cael Brockmeyer (So., Vineyard Haven, Mass., Avon Old Farms HS) hit his team
leading sixth home run to open the bottom of the sixth to highlight a three-run
CSUB rally.
The Matadors scored an unearned run in the seventh which was
matched by the Roadrunners in the bottom of the inning. CSUB posted one tally
in the eighth.
Spenser Messmore (Sr., Granada
Hills, Calif., Alemany
HS) allowed six hits over the first eight innings before coming out of the game.
Messmore struck out out nine along the way.
Brockmeyer, Legg, and J.P. Maestas (Jr., Nipomo,
Calif., Allan Hancock
College) each had two
hits for CSUB. Letourneau, Legg, and Dylan Christensen (Jr., Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Saddleback College) all charted two RBI's.
