CSUB Travels To UC Irvine This Weekend

BAKERSFIELD, Calif—CSU Bakersfield (20-27) travels to UC Irvine this weekend for the final Roadrunner road trip of the 2012 season. CSUB and UC Irvine are meeting for seventh, eighth, and nine times with the Anteaters leading the all-time series 5-1.

The Anteaters are 28-21. Leading the team in hitting is Christian Ramirez (.340). Jordan Fox (31) leads the squad in RBI's. Andrew Thurman, who threw a no-hitter earlier this season against Long Beach State, is UC Irvine's Friday night starter. At 7-2 on the year, the righty will go up against freshman lefty Austin Davis (Scottsdale, Ariz., Desert Moutain HS).

Saturday's probables will be Phillip Ferragam (R, 3-4, 3.93) for UCI against Scott Brattvet (Jr., Trabuco Canyon, Calif., Santa Ana College) who is 4-5 on the year. On Sunday, righty Crosby Slaught (6-6, 3.37) will face Jeff McKenzie (Jr., El Dorado Hills, Calif., San Joaquin Delta College) who is coming off his fourth complete game of the year against NC State.

New Mexico State defeated CSUB 5-3 Wednesdsay night. Trailing 5-0, the Roadrunners scored three runs in eighth and had the bases loaded with no outs, but could not convert.
