CSUB Travels To UC Santa Barbara Tuesday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield (6-6) travels to UC Santa Barbara (6-5) Tuesday for a 2 p.m. baseball matchup. Tuesday's contest will be the first of four games between CSU Bakersfield and UC Santa Barbara this season. CSUB returns to Santa Barbara Apr. 3 before the Gauchos come to Bakersfield for games May 25 and May 27. The all-time series is tied 3-3.

The Gauchos are 6-5 after dropping 2-of-3 games to Loyola Marymount this past weekend. Brett Vertigan is UCSB's leading hitting at a .490 clip (24-for-49).

The Roadrunners won 2-of-3 games against Portland Mar. 2-4. Jordie Hein (Fr., Scottsdale, Ariz., Chapparal HS) hit .556 during the series (5-of-9). DC Legg (R-Sr., Murrietta, Calif., Cypress College) hit .545 during the set and drove in three runs.

Tuesday's game against UC Santa Barbara will begin the first of two 10-game roadtrips for the Roadrunners this season. CSUB is at USC (Mar. 9-11), Fresno State (Mar. 16-18) and Washington (Mar. 23-25) before returning home Mar. 27 against Air Force. The Roadrunners second 10-game road trip is set for Apr. 24-May 13.
