CSUB Hosts Portland This Weekend

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield (4-5) hosts the University of Portland (5-0) in a three-game baseball series this weekend at Hardt Field. Friday and Saturday's games will begin at 6 p.m. with the series finale getting going at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

This will be the third, fourth, and fifth times that CSUB and Portland are playing in baseball.  The teams split a pair of games at the 2009 Fresno State Tournament.

The Pilots are 5-0 after sweeping Creighton last weekend in Portland. The middle game of the series was postponed due to rain as was Portland's game at the University of Oregon Tuesday night. Kris Kauppila leads the Pilots in hitting (.476) and is tied with two others for the team lead in home runs with two. Kaupplia has seven RBI's, good enough for second on the team.

Portland's probable rotation for the weekend will be Kyle Kraus (R) on Friday, Travis Radke (L) on Saturday and Chris Johnson (R) on Sunday. Going for the Roadrunners will be Jeff McKenzie (L) on Friday, Scott Brattvet (R) on Saturday, and Taylor Aikenhead (L) on Sunday.

UNLV swept a two-game series from the Roadrunners Feb. 28-29. UNLV defeated CSUB 4-3 Tuesday night and 15-6 Wednesday night.
