The Rebels opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Trent Cook's RBI ground out brought home Trevor Kirk. CSUB tied the game in the second when DC Legg (R-Sr., Murrieta, Calif., Cypress College) scored on a Louis Cazares (Sr., El Cajon, Calif., San Diego City College) ground out to third. UNLV went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the inning as Scott Tomassetti drove in Mark Shannon when he grounded out to third.

The Rebels added three runs in the third, two of which were plated on ground outs. After Cazares earned his second RBI in the fourth with a single, the Roadrunners loaded the bases with one out. Jordie Hein (Fr., Scottsdale, Ariz., Chapparal HS) walked for an RBI and CSUB's third run. A Kevin Younger (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) fielders choice made it 5-4. Scott Dysinger increased the lead to two in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single.

UNLV broke the game open with seven runs in the fifth, highlighted by a Shannon three-run home run. The Rebels scored two more in the sixth. The Roadrunners scored two more in the eighth.  Legg was 2-for-4, the only CSUB player will multiple hits.

The Roadrunners open a three-game series Friday night against the University of Portland (5-0) at 6 p.m.
