BAKERSFIELD, Calif--CSU Bakersfield opens the 2012-13 women's basketball season this week with an exhibition game Monday night against Fresno Pacific before opening the season with the Pac-12's Arizona Friday night.

For the second year in a row, CSUB will facing Fresno Pacific in an exhibition game. The Roadrunners defeated the Sunbirds 111-66 Nov. 8, 2011 in a game in which six Roadrunner players scored in double figures, led by Lauren Carter who had a game-high 23 points. Tyonna Outland earned a double-double with 15 poins and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Sunbirds who have transitioned to NCAA Division II and the PacWest Conference from the NAIA level, went 14-17 last season. The Sunbirds have played two exhibition games prior to coming to Bakersfield. Fresno Pacific dropped a 102-57 decision to crosstown rival Fresno State Oct. 30. The Sunbirds defeated Cal State San Marcos 91-83 in Fresno Nov. 2.

Arizona travels to CSUB for the first time Nov. 9. The Wildcats take on Grand Canyon in an exhibition game Monday night in Tucson. The Wildcats return three starters and has seven newcomers to a team that went 15-17 in 2011-12. Senior Davellyn Whyte ranks in the top 10 in several career categories in Wildcat history, including third in three-point field goals made and scoring average and fifth in all-time scoring.

"We look forward to the exhibition game against Fresno Pacific because of the Central Valley connection," said CSUB head coach Greg McCall. "Fresno pacific has always done a good job of playing hard and competing."

"Arizona is a Pac 12 program," McCall continued. "The Pac 12 has become one of the top conferences in D1. This will be a great measuring stick to see where we are early on this season."
