STOCKTON, Calif.
- Sophomore outside hitter Haleigh Haratyk (Corona, Calif., Centennial HS) was
named to her fourth straight All-Tournament team this season shortly after the
Roadrunners fell to the host Tigers 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-14) in the University
of the Pacific Stockton Hilton Invitational on Saturday night.
Haratyk finished
the tournament with 31 kills, 22 digs and three service aces. Against Pacific,
she led the Roadrunners with eight kills and four digs. On the season, Haratyk
leads CSUB in hitting percentage (.209), kills (174) and kills per set (4.46).
CSUB played very well against Pacific and Head Coach Jolene Shepardson said she was encouraged by the play of her squad.
"Pacific played really well against us and we played some of our best volleyball of the year in the first two sets, but let it get away from us in the third set," Shepardson said.
In Saturday's
match, libero Lauren Holderman (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Bakersfield HS) stood
strong on defense for the 'Runners with 10 digs. Setter Danielle Gong (Sr.,
Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) led CSUB in assists with 14 and also added
seven digs. Tika Smith (R-Jr., Sweetwater, Texas, Sweetwater HS) chipped in six
kills and four digs.
The Roadrunners
now have a quick turnaround as they will return to the court to play Cal Poly
on Sunday at 7 p.m.
