HAYWARD, Calif--CSUB, the No. 7 seed, fell 11-7 to UC San Diego, the No. 2 seed in the quarterfinals of the WWPA Tournament Friday afternoon at Chabot College.

The Tritons led 4-3 at halftime and 7-6 after three quarters. UCSD outscored the Roadrunners 4-2 in the fourth quarter for the 11-7 final period. Sam Shead (So. Johannesburg, South Africa, Rand Park HS) and Shannon McKenzie (R-So., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Rancho Cucamonga HS) both scored two goals for CSUB. Bianca Adams (Fr. Ontario, Calif., St. Lucy's Priory HS), Jessica Browning (So., Lake Forest, Calif., El Toro HS), and Paige Tsuruda (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii, Word of Life Academy) rounded out the Roadrunner scoring. Megan Pezzolla (So. Upland, Calif., Bonita HS) made six saves.

CSUB (8-29) takes on Cal State San Bernardino Saturday morning in the consolation play-in at 9 a.m. The CSUB/San Beranardino winner will face Sonoma State at 3 p.m. UC San Diego (15-18) faces Santa Clara (No. 3 seed) in the semifinals Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
