SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The University of San Diego (17-14, 7-1 PCSC) took two from CSUB (14-26, 2-6 PCSC) Apr. 17 at the USD Softball Complex.
The Toreros defeated the 'Runners 8-7 in the opener. The Roadruners trailed 8-4 at one point before scoring three in the sixth. With the tying run in scoring position, CSUB couldn't push the tally across as Jen Lahattie got Emily Bliss (So., Northridge, Calif., Chaminade Prep) to pop out to end the inning.
Laura King (So., Camarillo, Calif., UNLV) paced the 'Runners as she went 3-for-3. Amy Ricciardi (Fr., Chino Hills, Calif., Ayala HS) was 2-for-4 with two RBI's. Jamie Miller (Sr., Livermore, Calif., Ohlone College) went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chelsey Bell (Sr., Ridgecrest, Calif., Burroughs HS) also went 2-for-4. Ashley Nahale (Jr., Fremont, Calif. (Ohlone College) hit a two-run home run, her first of the season.
San Diego posted a 7-1 victory in the series finale. Karlee Rodgers (So., Clovis, Calif., Clovis West HS) tied the game at one with an RBI single in the second. The Toreros scored three runs in the third. San Diego scored two more in the sixth and posted one in the seventh. Rodgers was CSUB's leading hitter as she went 2-for-3. Sammy Rodriguez (Jr., Salinas, Calif., Salinas HS) took the loss. Rodriguez struck out seven in tossing her 12th complete game of the season.
CSUB was without the services of four players during Sunday due to a violation of unspecified team rules. CSUB returns to action Apr. 22-23 at St. Mary's College in Moraga, Calif.
