No. 17 Indiana Defeats CSUB; ?Runners Lose 8-7 To Princeton

SAN DIEGO, Calif-CSUB lost two matches at the San Diego State Invitational in water polo action Mar. 12.

No. 17 Indiana defeated the Roadrunners 11-2 in Saturday's opening match. Bianca Adams (Fr., Ontario, Calif., St. Lucy's Priory HS) and Amanda Nesbit (So., Chino Hills, Calif., Chino Hills HS) scored the CSUB goals. Malia Pahoa (Jr., Lake Elsinore, Calif., Temescal Canyon HS) and Paige Tsruda (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii, Word of Life Academy) both drew three ejections.

Princeton edged the 'Runners 8-7 in the back half of the day. Taylor Hanson (Fr., Modesto, Calif., Johansen HS) scored the first four goals for CSUB. Princeton scored four goals to begin the second half to take a 8-6 lead into the fourth quarter. Trailing 8-7, a Jessica Browning (So., Lake Forest, Calif., El Toro HS) shot in the final minute of the play hit the crossbar as the Tigers went onto victory.

Megan Pezzolla (So., Upland, Calif., Bonita HS) made 13 saves between the pipes. Browning drew five ejections and had two assists. Brittani Marquez (So., Visalia, Calif., El Diamante HS) made three steals.

Sunday's play sees CSUB (4-17) take on Wagner College (7:30 a.m.) and No. 19 Pacific (1:45 p.m.).
