Bakersfield, Calif.-Sophomore outside hitter Haleigh Haratyk became the second CSUB athlete in the month of October to be honored by the Bakersfield Jockey Club on Monday receiving recognition for consistently outstanding play in 2011.

The Corona Calif., native has racked up a team-high 339 kills this season as well as four all-tournament team honors in her second season with the Roadrunners. Haratyk is coming off a weekend in which she led CSUB with 22 kills and 26.5 points in a five-set loss to UNLV.

The Bakersfield Jockey Club was established in 1964 and has honored thousands of local high school and college student-athletes in their nearly 50 years of existence.

Haratyk joins CSUB men's soccer player Gyasi Zardes as Roadrunners honored by the Jockey Club in the month of October.

Haratyk and Roadrunner volleyball return to the road this weekend traveling to Pocatello, Id., to take on Idaho State on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. The Roadrunners return home for the final time on Nov. 11-12 when they host Montana State at the Icardo Center.
