BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSUB sophomore goalkeeper Eric Shannon (Valencia HS) finished the first week of regular season action 2–0 with one shutout to earn Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 5. He is CSUB's first MPSF player of the week winner in the school's second year as a conference member in men's soccer.
Shannon tallied eight saves, including a pair on breakaways, in a season–opening 1–0 upset over then No. 7 UC Santa Barbara in the season–opener Sept. 1. In addition to his heroics vs. UCSB, he allowed just one late goal in a 3–1 win over UC Davis. He finished the week with a 0.48 goals–against average.
The No. 20 Roadrunners begin a nine–match road trip Saturday afternoon at the University of San Francisco.
