BERKELEY,
Calif. - The 10th ranked Cal
volleyball team was simply too much for upstart CSUB Tuesday night, rolling to
a 25-14, 25-17, 25-14 win at Haas Pavilion.
CSUB
hit just .013 for the match while Cal hit a healthy .480. Both numbers were a
result of poor Roadrunner passing, which handcuffed the CSUB attack while
giving the Bears a plethora of simple transition opportunities.
Cal
ran away with sets one and three, but the 'Runners made some noise early in the
second set. They opened their biggest lead of the match, 12-7, on a Danielle Gong (Stockdale HS) ace midway
through the set. But the Bears responded by scoring seven of the next eight
points to retake the lead. With the set tied 16-16, Cal reeled off a 9-1 run to
completely snuff the upset bid.
Freshman
outside hitter Haleigh Haratyk
(Corona/Centennial HS) led CSUB with seven kills. Junior outside hitter Lindy DeGeare (Stockdale HS)th place on CSUB's all-time list. added a
season-high four aces, giving her 121 for her career and moving her past
Camille Mitchell (120) into 11

Sacramento State Friday evening before meeting No. 7 USC and Fresno State
