Roadrunners Win 13 Events at Lee Adams Open

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The CSUB men's and women's track and field teams combined to win 13 events Saturday at the Lee Adams Open. The Roadrunners were victorious in eight relays and five individual events. The meet was held at the CSUB track, marking the team's lone home contest of the season.

On the women's side, junior Arianna Celis ran away with the 1,600 meters, finishing in 5:17.69. The 4x100, 4x400, sprint medley and distance medley teams also picked up wins Saturday. Capturing runner–up finishes were freshman Brushay Wandick in the 100 meter dash (12.84), junior Jenah Kincaid in the 300 hurdles (49.14), and junior Briana Woodfox in the long jump (15–03.00).

The men got individual event crowns from junior Jose Lopez in the 5,000 (16:00.40), freshman Alex Williams in the 110 high hurdles (17.05), freshman Collin Ellis in the shot put (44–09.00) and junior Derek Kasselstrand in the discus (167–00). The men's team also tallied four relay victories in the 4x100, 4x400, sprint medley and the distance medley. Senior Edward Lee led for three laps before finishing second in the 1,600 meters (4:31.92). Classmate Daniel Hernandez was second in the 300 hurdles (41.64) and junior David Charleston cleared 6-feet 2-inches in the high jump to place second. Ellis was second to Kasselstrand in the discus (155–02) and Kasselstrand finished just one place off the pace in the weight throw (55–01.75).

Up next, the Roadrunners' head to the Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 27.
