Roadrunners Statistically Among Nation?s Best

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
While the CSUB women's basketball team is still one year away from being eligible to compete for an NCAA Division I championship, the Roadrunners are already showing they can run with some of the nation's elite teams statistically. In the first NCAA DI statistical rankings of the season, CSUB finds itself in the company of some of the nation's elite teams at the top of the lists. While the Roadrunners are still listed as a reclassifying school, this week's ranking show how they match up against other DI schools. Last year, the 'Runners were consistently ranked among the nation's top programs, both in team stats and in individual performances.

CSUB is tied for sixth in three-point field goals per game (9.3), tied for seventh as a team in scoring offense (85.0), 11th in turnover margin (8.17), and is 32nd in three-point field goal percentage (39.2). The Roadrunners lead all NCAA DI independent schools in each of these categories.

The Roadrunners also have a couple of single–game team top–10 marks from the Nov. 21 game against Hawaii. CSUB hit a school–record 15 three pointers, the third highest single–game total of the season. Also, CSUB's 105 point total is the 12th-highest signle game tally this season in DI.

Senior Katie Williams (Las Vegas, Nev./Reedley College) ranks in the top–10 of two individual categories. Williams is tied for seventh with 4.2 steals per game and is 10th in scoring, averaging 22.5 points per game. She is the DI independent leader in both categories.

The Roadrunners have over a week off until hosting Utah Valley on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Icardo Center.
