CSUB Raises $2500 For Jamison Children?s Center

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? Repeating their success from one year ago, the team Gray Matter Envy was named the champion of the Third Annual Brains of Bakersfield, hosted by the CSUB men's and womens' soccer teams Saturday. But the real winner from Saturday night is the Jamison Children's Center Foundation, to which the proceeds of $2,500 from the event will be donated.

Sixteen teams of up to ten members each competed in categories such as sports, history, movies and general knowledge, with the winner being named “Bakersfield Brainiest Team.”

“I'm always proud of our student-athletes when they donate their time for a good cause,” said CSUB men's soccer Head Coach Simon Tobin. “It's good for our athletes to be involved in projects where they are doing something good for someone else.”

The Jamison Children's Center, selected as the recipient by Tobin and CSUB professors Cliona Murphy and Judith Pratt, provides a safe place for children to live until they can be placed in foster care.
