BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? Swimming against the No. 11 ranked Division I program in the nation, the Cal Bears, a trio of CSUB men's swimmers and divers set season-best marks Thursday at the John S. Hillman Aquatics Center on the CSUB campus.

While Cal took the team victory, 133-78, junior Brian Lenecioni, sophomore Adam Pawlowski and senior Evan Crocker improved their marks in four events. Lenecioni completed the 200 yard individual medley in 2:02.15, nearly four seconds faster than his previous season best. The Bakersfield native also shaved two seconds off his time in the 2500 yard freestyle, placing fifth in a time of 4:51.50.

Pawlowski, a sophomore, cut his season-best 1000 yard freestyle time by 10 seconds, touching the wall in a time of 10:04.78. Meanwhile, on the three-meter diving board, Crocker turned in a season-best score of 282.38.

Junior Sampo Sissala had a solid outing with a third place finish of 1:43.78 in the 200 yard freestyle, just .4 seconds behind second place finisher William Copeland from Cal. Sissala also turned in a 1:57.14, fourth place finish in the 200 yard butterfly. Fellow junior Nathan Vizcarra turned in a solid 4:44.29, third place mark in the 500 yard freestyle.

With nine returning All-Americans from a squad that finished eighth at last year's NCAA National Championships, the Bears swept the top spot in all 13 events, but competed many of the final events as exhibition.

The Roadrunners will host another Pac-10 school Friday, this time in the form of the Stanford Cardinal. Action gets underway at 1 p.m. at the Hillman Aquatics Center.
