WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Cal State Bakersfield was once again well represented as seven members of the Cal State Bakersfield men’s soccer team and two players from the women’s squad were named to the 2004 All-CCAA team.
The strong back line for the men’s squad was rewarded for its conference-best defense as fullbacks Omar Abdelshife (El Segundo/El Segundo HS) and Drew Rea (Redlands/Western Michigan) were joined by goalkeeper Josh Wicks (San Bernardino/Cajon HS) and forward Jason Ashurst (Stockdale HS) on the first team. The Roadrunners held teams to a league-low 0.68 goals per game and posted 12 shutouts in 20 matches.
Rea earned first team honors for the second straight season. Abdelshife picked up second- eam honors last season as a sophomore.
