CSUB Takes Point Home from Road Trip to CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer team battled CSUN to a 2-2 draw Wednesday at Matador Soccer Field. The Roadrunners took the lead twice and finished with a 12-4 edge in shots, but the Matadors answered both times in the Big West-opening tie.

How it Happened

Arras gave CSUB the early lead by converting a penalty kick in the 14th minute of the match. CSUN answered at 33:17 when Enrique Pineda headed a cross into the net, but the `Runners regained the advantage just before halftime. Arras found Cazares, who struck a shot from nearly 30 yards that hit the net just inside the right post with three minutes remaining in the period.

The `Runners continued to pressure the Matadors after halftime, producing eight shots in the second period. CSUN tied the match again at 67:12 when Damien Baltierra finished a give-and-go play, but CSUB kept attacking late. CSUN goalkeeper Bryan Castaneda made four saves, including stops on late attempts by Jesse Wangusi and Justin Knighton, while Zenden Hart made one save for the `Runners.
