`Runners Tally Largest Margin of Victory in Big West Game

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Picking up the first Big West win of the 2025-26 season came in historic fashion Saturday afternoon in the Icardo Center as the Roadrunner women's basketball team dominated Long Beach State, 75-48. The 27-point margin of victory is Cal State Bakersfield's largest in a conference game since joining The Big West in the 2025-26 season.

The Roadrunners and the Beach played a fairly even first quarter, but Bakersfield outscored its visitor 22-1 in the second quarter on the way to a 47-17 lead at halftime.

CSUB kept the gas on the in the second half, leading by as many as 37 points before pulling its starters. LBSU made up a little ground in the final minutes, but the `Runners held on for a historic margin of victory all the same.

Bakersfield posted a solid offensive performance, shooting 48% from the field and converting 33% of their three-point attempts, but the `Runner defense was the primary catalyst to the team's dominant victory. CSUB held the Beach to 27% shooting from the field and just 20% from behind the arc.

The `Runners were led by post player Tena Ikidi, who finished three blocks shy of a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 blocks. Chrishawn Coleman chipped in 15 points and 4 assists, Morgan Hawkins added 6 points and 7 assists, and Maria Dias tallied 14 points in the win. Aliyah Carter did a little bit of everything with 4 points, 8 boards, and 3 assists on Saturday.

CSUB will continue Big West play next week with a pair of road games before returning home to defend the Icardo Center once again. The `Runners are scheduled to host Hawai'i on Jan. 22 with CSUB preparing to give away a Bakersfield-themed jersey! Tickets are available now at the link below.
