• The Cal State Bakersfield women’s soccer team looks to build on the momentum of an exciting postseason run heading into the 2025 season. 
• Bakersfield’s 2024 squad made a deep run into the postseason, reaching the Big West Championship match before ultimately falling in penalty kicks. 
• Under the guidance of first-year Head Coach Whitney Pitalo, the 2025 Roadrunner roster features 32 women: 18 returners and 14 newcomers. 
• CSUB’s group of returners includes a strong core of veterans with ample experience. To name a few: 
• Kamy Anaya (Sr.): Earned the starting goalkeeper role during Bakersfield’s postseason run and she was voted the Big West's top goalkeeper heading into the 2025 season 
• Kim Garcia (5th) & Cynthia Ramirez (Sr.): CSUB’s offensive leaders last year with 4 goals and 10 points each 
• Paige Rodriguez (Sr.): Led CSUB with 7 assists in 2024 
• Catalina Roggerone (Sr.): Experienced defender who spent the summer helping Argentina’s Senior National Team at place third at Copa América Femenina. 

CSUB at Weber State 

• Two road games down, two more to go, the `Runners are on their way to the Wildcats field for their third away game of the season. 
• Thursday, Aug. 21, 6 p.m. (PT)

• The Wildcats welcomed new head coach, Kyle Christensen  
• Christensen was previously at UVU where he helped lead to four NCAA Tournament appearances, four WAC regular season championships and three WAC Tournament titles.  
• The `Runners last took on the Wildcats last year on the home field coming up with a victory of 2-1.  

CSUB at Idaho State 

• After three away games, the `Runners are going into their last one before coming to play back home.  
• Sunday, Aug. 24, 12 p.m. (PT)

• Bengals goalkeeper Trinity Hale finished off the season ranked first in the Big Sky Conference  
• Hale finished off the 2024 season with 89 saves 
• Last time the `Runners and the Bengals went head-to-head was back in 2021 when the `Runners came home with a win of 1-0.

• The Roadrunner men’s soccer team made a run at the Big West regular season title in 2024 and will look to finish the job heading into 2025. 
• Cal State Bakersfield played for the Big West crown in the regular season finale despite being predicted to finish last in the 2024 preseason Coaches Poll. 
• Third-year Head Coach Adam Grant will look to a large crop of experienced `Runners to lead a talented group of newcomers. 
• CSUB’s roster anchors itself to a group of returning veterans, including but not limited to: 
  • Zenden Hart (Jr.): Played all but 27 minutes in goal for CSUB in 2024 
  • Luka Geishauser (Jr.): Centerback who earned First Team All-Big West honors and has been recently named to the Preseason All-Conference Team  
  • Rashaad Ogun (5th): Leading returner in points (6) and goals (2) 
  • Fillip Arras (Jr.) & Bogart Roca (Sr.): Arras (6) and Boca (3) led CSUB in assists last year and joined Geishauser on a stout back line. 
• Another dominant performance for the books with a 5-1 win over the Mustangs, great way to close out the exhibition matches.  
• TMU came up short in the Great Southwest Athletic Conference Championship after having had won the semifinal 2-0 

CSUB at Utah Valley 

• The `Runners will be on the road to Utah Valley for the first game of the season.

• Utah Valley has recently added an additional three transfer defenders to finalize their roster for the year. 
• The Wolverines ended their 2024 season in a controversial penalty call against SJSU in the Western Athletic Conference Quarter Finals.  
• The `Runners are ready for a different result this time around, having last faced the Wolverines on their home turf back in 2019.   

CSUB vs. California Baptist  

• Back at home, the `Runners are ready to settle the score as they host the Lancers on their own field.

• The Lancers ended their 2024 season as No.3 in the WAC.

• The Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team will close out its preseason training with its annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage this weekend.
• The new-look Roadrunners are building team chemistry from the ground up as the CSUB roster features only one returner who was on the squad last Fall.
• CSUB Volleyball is moving into a new era with the departure of its previous Head Coach, Giovana Melo.
  • The `Runners will be led by co-interim Head Coaches, Felipe Nogueira and Cinthia Angus, both of whom have previous head coaching experience.
• CSUB’s fresh-faced roster welcomes back one returner, Druegan Davis, as well as 14 newcomers. Highlights of a few first-time `Runners:
  • Nicole Zake (So.): Transferred to CSUB in December from Virginia Tech
  • Nele Broszat (Jr.): Spent freshman season at West Virginia before winning a NJCAA National Championship at Florida SouthWestern State last year
  • Luiza Da Cruz (Jr.): Led Miami Dade College to NJCAA Runner-Up finishes in 2023 and 2024, falling to her now-teammate Nele Broszat’s team in the National Championship a year ago.
• Bakersfield put together a good first showing, earning a 3-2 exhibition win over Saint Mary’s last week.

CSUB vs. Blue-Gold Scrimmage

• The `Runners will open the Icardo Center, welcoming fans for the first event in Bakersfield’s gym this season.

• The Blue-Gold Scrimmage serves as a great opportunity for the `Runner coaching staff to test out rotations heading into the first week of the season.
• Historically, the annual intrasquad scrimmage has been coincidentally lopsided in favor of the Gold team.
  • Last year, Gold snuck out a 3-2 victory over Blue. With that, Gold has now won four-straight Scrimmages against Blue, dating back to 2021. Blue last earned a win in 2019.
• This year's Blue-Gold Scrimmage once again caps off an exciting day of activity on campus as new `Runners will be moving into CSUB's dorms as part of Move-In Weekend. New students and their families are encouraged to head over to the Icardo Center for a fun event to close out the festivities.
