• The Cal State Bakersfield women’s soccer team looks to build on the momentum of an exciting postseason run heading into the 2025 season.
• Bakersfield’s 2024 squad made a deep run into the postseason, reaching the Big West Championship match before ultimately falling in penalty kicks.
• Under the guidance of first-year Head Coach Whitney Pitalo, the 2025 Roadrunner roster features 32 women: 18 returners and 14 newcomers.
• CSUB’s group of returners includes a strong core of veterans with ample experience. To name a few:
  • Kamy Anaya (Sr.): Earned the starting goalkeeper role during Bakersfield’s postseason run and she was voted the Big West's top goalkeeper heading into the 2025 season
  • Kim Garcia (5th) & Cynthia Ramirez (Sr.): CSUB’s offensive leaders last year with 4 goals and 10 points each
  • Paige Rodriguez (Sr.): Led CSUB with 7 assists in 2024
  • Catalina Roggerone (Sr.): Experienced defender who spent the summer helping Argentina’s Senior National Team at place third at Copa América Femenina.
• The `Runners enjoyed an exhibition victory at Sacramento State last week, 3-1.
  • Including Spring season exhibitions, CSUB is undefeated in its last 10 competitions (8-0-2) dating back to last season.

CSUB at California Baptist

• Bakersfield officially kicks off the 2025 regular season with the first two of four-straight road matches.

  • Live broadcast on ESPN+
• California Baptist, a future member of The Big West, posted a 10-7-3 record last season, winning the Western Athletics Conference Tournament and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the Lancers moved to Division I.
• CSUB and CBU will be meeting for just the third time in the all-time series and the first time since 2019.
  • The series is tied 1-1 with the Lancers winning 3-1 in 2019 while the `Runners took a 1-0 victory the year before.

CSUB at San Diego State

• The `Runners swing from Riverside down to San Diego for a road tilt with the Aztecs.

• UNLV put together a 9-8-4 record in 2024 but had its season cut short with a loss in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
• SDSU owns a 2-0-0 record all-time against the `Runners. A year ago in San Diego, the Aztecs defeated CSUB 3-0.

• The Roadrunner men’s soccer team made a run at the Big West regular season title in 2024 and will look to finish the job heading into 2025.
• Cal State Bakersfield played for the Big West crown in the regular season finale despite being predicted to finish last in the 2024 preseason Coaches Poll.
• Third-year Head Coach Adam Grant will look to a large crop of experienced `Runners to lead a talented group of newcomers.
• CSUB’s roster anchors itself to a group of returning veterans, including but not limited to:
  • Zenden Hart (Jr.): Played all but 27 minutes in goal for CSUB in 2024
  • Luka Geishauser (Jr.): Centerback who earned First Team All-Big West honors
  • Rashaad Ogun (5th): Leading returner in points (6) and goals (2)
  • Fillip Arras (Jr.) & Bogart Roca (Sr.): Arras (6) and Boca (3) led CSUB in assists last year and joined Geishauser on a stout back line.
• After a strong performance for the 2nd year in a row CSUB defeated the UCLA Bruins, 2-1, in an exhibition last week.
  • UCLA had the #1 ranked recruiting class in the country

CSUB at Stanford (Exhib.)

• The `Runners hit the road for the second time to Stanford for another challenging exhibition game.

• Reaching the third round in the NCAA Tournament against #1 Ohio State, Stanford earned a scoreless draw in regulation, but was eliminated 4-2 in penalty kicks.
• Stanford Head Coach Jeremy Gunn is very familiar with CSUB as a Roadrunner Alum.
  • Gunn started off his coaching career here at CSUB as an assistant coach and later served both the men’s and women’s coaching staffs, helping the `Runner men to a NCAA Division II National Championship in 1997.
• CSUB last played Stanford in an exhibition back in 2021 with the Cardinal earning a convincing victory.

CSUB vs. The Master’s (Exhib.)

• The `Runners will play their final exhibition match at home.

• The Master’s University is an NAIA program based out of Santa Clarita, Calif.   
• The Mustangs placed second in their conference last year with an 8-4-2 league record.
• CSUB hosted TMU for an exhibition a year ago in Bakersfield, taking a 3-0 victory on the Main Soccer Field.

• The Cal State Bakersfield volleyball team will unofficially open the 2025 season with a road exhibition this week.
• The new-look Roadrunners are building team chemistry from the ground up as the CSUB roster features only one returner who was on the squad last Fall.
• CSUB Volleyball is moving into a new era with the departure of its previous Head Coach, Giovana Melo.
  • The `Runners will be led by co-interim Head Coaches, Felipe Nogueira and Cinthia Angus, both of whom have previous head coaching experience.
• CSUB’s fresh-faced roster welcomes back one returner, Druegan Davis, as well as 14 newcomers. Highlights of a few first-time `Runners:
  • Nicole Zake (So.): Transferred to CSUB in December from Virginia Tech
  • Nele Broszat (Jr.): Spent freshman season at West Virginia before winning a NJCAA National Championship at Florida SouthWestern State last year
  • Luiza Da Cruz (Jr.): Led Miami Dade College to NJCAA Runner-Up finishes in 2023 and 2024, falling to her now-teammate Nele Broszat’s team in the National Championship a year ago.

CSUB at Saint Mary’s (Exhib.)

• The `Runners will travel to Moraga, Calif. to get their first test against live opposition.

• During the 2024 season, Saint Mary’s posted a 10-17 record while going 6-12 in the tough Western Coast Conference.
  • Saint Mary’s is also led by a first-year Head Coach, Tyler Hildebrand, who just joined the Gaels and previously coached against CSUB at Long Beach State.  
• CSUB and Saint Mary’s last met during the 2023 season when the `Runners earned a 3-1 victory.
