• The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team is back in action at Hardt Field for a three-game series against UC Riverside.
• After securing a win in their last game against Cal State Fullerton, the Roadrunners are carrying momentum into the weekend.
• Nick Mascaro continues to shine for the Bakersfield squad, currently ranking 5th in the Big West with a .374 batting average. He also ranks 3rd in total hits (43), 8th in slugging percentage (.617), and 9th in on-base percentage (.467).
• Mascaro is on a 29-game streak of reaching base, recently breaking into CSUB’s top ten for a single season. Close behind him, teammate Noah Alvarez boasts a 24-game streak of reaching base safely.

CSUB vs. UC Riverside (11-17, 2-10 Big West)

• Bakersfield will kick off the series against the UC Riverside Highlanders this Friday for an action-packed weekend of Big West baseball.

• The Highlanders are coming off a tough weekend in which they suffered a three-game sweep at the hands of UC Irvine
  • Two weeks ago, UC Riverside faced the Fullerton Titans, losing all three games, while Bakersfield managed to take one game from the Titans.
• Despite a tough preseason, UC Riverside has a 2-10 conference record, with their only series win coming against Hawai’i, who currently ranks third in the conference.
  • Riverside sits at the bottom of the Big West standings heading into this weekend.

• Bakersfield currently sits in 7th place in the Big West standings, although they are just two games back of 4th place Cal State Fullerton
• CSUB is currently in contention for the first ever Big West Softball Championship as the Top 6 teams make the tournament
• CSUB reached base via walks or hit by pitch 21 times versus UCSD, the most in a single series this season

• The Cal State Bakersfield track and field team prepares for their biggest test yet as they travel to SoCal this weekend for the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Keresee Invitational.
• Bakersfield will compete on the historic Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA.
• The women's program is coming off a historic indoor season, during which multiple school records were broken and various top-five marks were achieved. 
• Makiah Parker, Skye Odom, and Julie Johnson broke school records in their respective events. 
• Bakersfield native Jacob Yagers recently broke the 33 year old 1,500m school record with a time of 3:44.40. Yagers earned himself Big West Track Athlete of the Week honors.
• Freshman Makiah Parker ran a 200m in 24.12; it is the fastest time in 40 years for the event.
• Javier Toro had a successful season last year in which he qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries Meet. He currently sits at 18th in the NCAA West Region in the Hammer Throw. 

CSUB at Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Keresee Invitational - Apr. 5

• Makiah Parker is set to compete in both the 100m and 200m this weekend. She is on the CSUB all-time list and sits in the top five in the Big West for both events.
• Skye Odom continues to increase her triple jump mark this season. The freshman placed first overall in the event last weekend and is third all-time in program history.
• Emilia Mandela will compete in the 100m Hurdles where she is seventh in Big West.
• The men continue to be led by Jacob Yagers and Javier Toro.
• Yagers will toe the line for the 1,500m on Saturday. Last weekend he showed off his speed in the 800m where he ran the ninth fastest time in program history.
• Toro will strive for another successful weekend in both the hammer throw and shot put.
• Others to watch – Amiera Hollis (100m, 200m), Ivy Miller (400mH), Jaztyn Greer (400mH), Crystal Torrecillas (600m), Grace Padron (Hammer Throw), Rain Gomez (1,500m), Jaden Cutliff (100mH, 400mH), and Meshach Davis (100m, 200m).
• The Roadrunners will compete in their first-ever mixed relay team, which includes Skyblue Gonzales, Makiah Parker, Julie Johnson, and Dylan Thompson. The event is not an NCAA event but has become a popular international event as is contested at the World Championships.
