BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – In a monumental victory for the Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball program, the Roadrunners defeated No. 15 Georgia State in their first-ever meeting, securing a program-defining win against the reigning 2024 Sun Belt Conference champions.
The upset marks a significant milestone under the leadership of Head Coach Andy Fulenwider, whose team delivered a gutsy performance to take down one of the nation’s top-ranked programs. Georgia State, an established powerhouse in collegiate beach volleyball, entered the match as heavy favorites, but CSUB rose to the occasion with grit, determination, and stellar execution.
