Susa Named Chair of Big West Council for 2026-27

Cal State Bakersfield Faculty Athletics Representative also selected to Big West Executive Committee

IRVINE, Calif. – Dr. Kyle Susa, Cal State Bakersfield's Faculty Athletics Representative, has been selected to serve as chair of the Big West Council during the 2026-27 academic year. Susa will also serve as a member of the Big West Executive Committee, nestling himself in the middle of vital conversations with the opportunity to advocate for CSUB Athletics and its student-athletes.

The Big West Council is composed of each member institution's Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR). The council serves as a key leadership and governance body for the conference, overseeing matters related to sportsmanship, student-athlete advocacy, conference policies, bylaws, and strategic decisions. It also provides recommendations to the Big West Board of Directors.

The Big West Council meets twice annually, once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester. Its next meeting is scheduled to coincide with the Big West Cross Country Championships in Riverside, California.
Susa's selection follows his service as chair of the Big West FARs during the 2025-26 academic year.

In addition to his responsibilities as CSU Bakersfield's FAR, Susa is a professor and Co-Chair of the university's Psychology Department. He is in his fifth season serving as the Roadrunners' FAR, helping promote the academic, personal, and athletic well-being of student-athletes while serving as a liaison between Athletics and the university's faculty.

Susa's appointment represents continued recognition of Cal State Bakersfield's leadership within The Big West and its commitment to student-athlete success, institutional collaboration, and conference governance.
