CSU Bakersfield earned their first conference win of the season after overcoming a tough preseason schedule. The `Runners came ready to play in their matchup against Northridge, maintaining a fast-paced and determined style of play following a narrow defeat to UC Santa Barbara just two days earlier.
Bakersfield got off to a strong start, jumping out to an early lead and setting the tone for the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Runners held an 18-16 advantage, with both teams battling hard for control. After halftime, Bakersfield faced a slight deficit, trailing by just four points. Coming out of the break with renewed energy and determination. They outscored CSUN by one point in the third quarter, setting the stage for a dramatic fourth.
In the final frame, Bakersfield went on a 9-point scoring run, holding the Matadors scoreless for a key three-minute stretch in the last five minutes of the game. The `Runners displayed a stifling defense and efficient offense, scoring 24 points in the final period to seal the victory and complete the comeback.
Ary Dizon and Caitie Gingras once again led the charge for Bakersfield. Dizon turned in an outstanding performance, recording her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Gingras, one of the team's most reliable sharpshooters, contributed 14 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals, helping to guide the team to victory.
