- Bakersfield made the trip down to Riverside for a Big West showdown with the Highlanders.
- The Roadrunners got on the board quickly going up 2-0 in the first two innings with a pair of RBI singles.
- Kobe Silva singled through the left side plating Kyler Stancato in the first inning.
- In the second, Elijah Pelayo singled up the middle bringing Jason Leon around to score.
- UCR cut the `Runner lead in half after an RBI single to left field.
- Bakersfield added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
- In the top of the seventh, Cody Hendriks hit a sacrifice fly scoring Stancato for the second time on the evening.
- In the eighth, Stancato tacked on three runs with a bases clearing double into the left center gap.
- Ryan Verdugo’s Big West dominance continued, going eight innings allowing only four hits and striking out nine Highlanders.
CSUB 4, UC Riverside 5 – Saturday, May 4
- CSUB jumped out to another early lead when a Michael Pollard single put the `Runners up 1-0.
- UCR immediately responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the second inning.
- The Roadrunners were able to answer back in the next inning plating two.
- Jacob Gutierrez and Max Bernal both tallied RBI sinlges.
- CSUB climbed back tying it in the fifth inning with a Hendriks sacrifice fly scoring Gutierrez.
- The game remained knotted at 4-4 as Gary Grosjean held the Highlanders at bay after their second inning rally.
- Grosjean went nine innings, giving up five hits while striking out four.
- Riverside walked off the `Runners on a double to left center in the tenth inning, winning 5-4.
CSUB 0, UC Riverside 3 – Sunday, May 5
- In the rubber match, both teams started out slow, going scoreless until the fifth inning.
- UCR reached on a fielder’s choice, plating a runner to go up 1-0.
- The Highlanders added two more runs in the sixth inning following a two-RBI double.
- Kellen O’Connor struck out seven going 5.2 innings.
- Gutierrez relieved O’Connor for the final 2.1 innings while allowing just one hit.
- The Roadrunners were able to bring the tying run to the plate in the eighth inning after Stancato walked on four pitches and Bernal singled down the right field line, but CSUB was unable to cash in.
