CSUB 80, UC Riverside 56 – Thursday, Jan. 18

• The Cal State Bakersfield men's basketball team earned their first Big West win in the 2023-24 season.
• CSUB shot 52.6% from the field and 45.5% from three.
  • Three `Runners scored in double digits, Corey Stephenson scored 21, Kaleb Higgins scored 17, and Marvin McGhee III scored 14.
• Stephenson continued his good play, as he recorded his first double-double at the D-1 level, scoring 21 points (7-11 FG, 6-8 FT) and 11 rebounds.
• CSUB also improved their home record to 5-2 this season, only losses coming from Hawaii and UC Irvine in the beginning of conference play.
• The Roadrunners held the Highlanders to a field goal percentage of 29.2% for the game.
• This is the first time the Roadrunners had scored 80 points or more versus a Big West opponent since last season when they faced the Highlanders in an overtime win where they put up 82 points.

CSUB 65, Cal Poly 53 – Saturday, Jan. 20

• Another game, another standout performance from a Roadrunner. 
  • Tom Mark recorded a career high 16 points (7-9 FG), 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and one steal on the night.
• Bakersfield continued their dominance versus Cal Poly, winning their 11th straight game and improving to 15-2 in the all-time series.
  • The Roadrunners are 11-0 versus Cal Poly in the Rod Barnes era.
• The `Runners brought down 41 rebounds, which contributed to 16 second chance points.
• It was the 7th time this season that a team had won not scoring from three-point range this year.
  • CSUB was 0-6 from three, although they made a living dominating the Mustangs in the paint.

• The Roadrunners have racked up three MPSF Swimmer of the Week honors this season: two for Vili Sivec and one for Kylie Ney.
• Bakersfield’s swim and dive team is in its last season as a member of the MPSF. The `Runners will join the rest of the Athletics Department in The Big West next season as the conference announced it would be adding Swimming and Diving as a sponsored sport in 2024-25.
• Sophomore Vili Sivec continues to rack up an impressive resume as the Croatian’s quest to become an Olympian looks more and more likely each week.
• At the Big Al Invitational in December, Sivec and Co. rewrote the CSUB record books. In total, six men and eight women tallied marks in CSUB’s Top 5 all-time lists.

CSUB at Fresno State

• The `Runner women looked to its distance swimmers to lead the way, but Bakersfield came up short in its dual against cross-valley rival Fresno State, 173-122.
• Sophomore Kylie Ney continued to shine, taking a pair of wins in the 500 and 1650 Free.
• Fellow Sophomore Holly DiSimone took the 200 Free.
• Their classmate, Evelyn Silguero, posted a personal best time of 17:41.41.
• Senior Hannah Marsh lowered her taper time in the mile from CSUB’s midseason meet down to 17:18.23.
• Venna Andersen and Danielle Albright also contributed big points for the `Runners while diver Chloe Brown did the same on the springboards.

CSUB 62, UC Riverside  64 – Thursday, January 18

• The Cal State Bakersfield women's basketball team fell short 62-64, in a thriller against the UC Riverside Highlanders. 
• The Roadrunners started off hot at the SRC Arena with 22 points in the first quarter while shooting 50% 3-pointers (4-8). 
• Jordan Olivares put up 23 points and 4 rebounds against the Highlanders. Olivares was 5-5 from the free throw and went 4-9 on 3-points. 
• Off the bench, Bakersfield put up 16 total points to Riverside's 11 points. 
• With under three minutes left in the game CSUB's Shaunae Brown hit a three to put the team up 59-57 but Jordan Webster of UCR answered right back with a three. Webster put up 31 points against Bakersfield.

CSUB 67, Cal Poly 80 – Saturday, January 20

• Women’s basketball started of the weekend for the `Runners against the Cal Poly Mustangs
• CSUB was down a starting player in Jordan Olivares who recently put up 23 points against the Highlanders. 
• The Roadrunners down a starter still came into Motts Athletics Center hot delivering 20 points in the first quarter. 
• Leading the team was freshman standout Amourie Porter, who had her first start of the season against the Mustangs. Porter scored 24 points, shooting 88% on FGs, 100% from the FT (6-6) as well as her threes (2-2). To top it off, she had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal all within 27 minutes of playing time.
• Although Porter had an outstanding game, it wasn’t enough for Bakersfield to beat out Cal Poly. Like many of the `Runners start to the second half, the third quarters slow start of only 12 points was where they failed. Fighting hard in the fourth and scoring 22 points as a team, couldn’t catch Cal Poly.

•  The Cal State Bakersfield wrestling team travelled to San Luis Obispo on Sunday for a Pac-12 dual meet against the Cal Poly Mustangs. 

CSUB 3, Cal Poly 43 – Sunday, January 21

• The Roadrunners struggled to put up points against the Mustangs over the weekend and fell to 0-3 in conference matches. 
• Redshirt sophomore Guillermo Escobedo showed out for the second weekend in a row for CSUB. Escobedo, 165-pounder earned the only points of the day for Bakersfield as he defeated Cal Poly's Michael Goldfeder by decision. 
• Richard Castro-Sandoval (125), Luis Ramos (141), and Jake Andrews (185) all lost by decision against their opponents. Ramos went wire to wire Abe Hinrichsen but fell short. 
• CSUB will return on Sunday, February 4th at 4:00 p.m. as they travel up to Stanford for a Pac-12 dual match.
