Bakersfield Beats Long Beach State for the Series Win

 
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team walks away with a series win against the Long Beach State Dirtbags. The fifth inning was the turning point of the game, the `Runners brought in six runs taking the lead against the Dirtbags.

  • Our ballclub played back to back. Excellent baseball games in a difficult place to win and take a series on the road. Our bullpen was excellent with Gabe and db today. 
  • Some timely hitting was nice to see belly and Salas had two big hits for us at the right time.
  • Defensively, we played outstanding the past two days. It's great to see our guys continue to battle, it's a tribute to our team culture and program direction. We have a group of tough young man, that want to play hard for each other.

  • Long Beach gets off to an early start, scoring three runs within the first two innings. Having their first two runs home runs, one in the first by redshirt sophomore, Rocco Peppi and the other in the second by freshman, Ty Borgogno.
  • The `Runners walking a thin line in the top of the fifth, with bases loaded and two outs James Bell was up to the plate. Bases clearing double by Bell change the entire moment of the game. Getting four runs on the board which gave the `Runners the lead.
  • The fifth inning didn't end there, bases were loaded up for a second time, with Nick Salas's single to left center scoring Bell and Kobe Silva making the score 6 – 3 by the end of the inning.
