Highest Finish in Division I Era for Miller at NCAA West Region

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Redshirt junior Miranda Miller competed at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds on Thursday evening in Sacramento, Calif. Miller posted the highest finish for a Bakersfield athlete in the Division I era, after finishing 13th overall in the pole vault.

The field of 48 athletes struggled through the wind all night. Miller was able to clear the two starting heights with just one attempt. Her attempt at 13'6.25" took two tries, but she was able to continue onto the next height of 13'10.25, which only 21 athletes made it to that mark.

Miller was not able to clear the mark of 13-10, however she tied for 12th place with three other athletes. The four athletes attempted in a jump off to determine who took last spot into the NCAA National Championship Meet. Unfortunately, Miller didn't clear the height and finished just shy of qualifying.

The Manteca, Calif. native had yet another historic season, after being the only `Runner at the regional meet and becoming the 2023 Pole Vault Champion at the Big West Track and Field Championships.

She will return next year as a redshirt senior and will have another chance to improve on her already historic resume as a Roadrunner:
