CSUB Back in California for Road Trip

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield softball team is back in California this but traveling north for the week. They will have a total of seven games, two in Santa Clara, two in Fresno, and three in Stockton. The Roadrunners will look to get into a groove before coming home for their first home series of the year.

`Runner Notes 
 
·       Bakersfield comes into this week after a tough road trip versus some of the top teams in the nation. They will look to get back on track before coming home and starting Big West play.
·       Maya Williams leads the team in hits (12), batting average (.286), OPS (.745), and on-base percentage (.412).
·       In 49 innings pitched, Brianna Sanchez has only allowed eight walks. Opposing batters are also hitting .247 off Sanchez, the pitching staff's best average.
 
Scouting the Opposition 
 
·       Santa Clara comes into this week with an (8 – 11) record. They won their last two games versus St. Bonaventure and Niagara in Hawai'i. In 19 games, the Broncos are batting.300 with 13 home runs.
·       Utah Tech (13 – 6) enters this week going (9 – 1) in their last ten games. The Trailblazers have two hitters batting over .400. Tanya Windle, arguably their best batter is batting .444 with 28 hits, 12 RBI, and an OPS of 1.071. Lauren Almeida is batting .431 with 22 hits, 15 RBI, and an OPS of 1.228.
·       NM State (10 – 7) was originally scheduled to play the Roadrunners on February 26 in the Troy Cox Classic but was canceled due to high winds. As a team they have an ERA of 6.11 and opponents are batting .281.
·       Pacific (4 – 12) comes into this weekend (2 – 3) in their last five games. Those three losses were all shutouts, and they were outscored over the past weekend 9 – 24.
