CSUB Women's Basketball Announces Annual Summer Camps

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield women's basketball team will be hosting a trio of summer camps this summer, and the Roadrunners are excitedly awaiting the next group of campers coming to the Icardo Center. CSUB will welcome young ballers from multiple age groups looking to improve their skills on the Valley Strong Court.

"These camps allow us coaches to share our passion with kids and athletes that are showing interest in the game," said Zack Grasmick, one of CSUB's assistant coaches. "All of the coaches on staff attended a camp at some point in our childhood and we see the impact it made on us now, not to mention the opportunity to give back to the community."

Whether you play the game of basketball competitively or for fun, our camps will help grow a love for the game and hopefully make an impact on individual values as well. Current `Runner student-athletes have been attendees at CSUB's women's basketball camps, and many other campers have gone on to play Division I basketball at other institutions.

Attendees at CSUB's women's basketball camps have several unique opportunities: playing on Bakersfield's famous blue court, getting a taste of what it would be like to play Division I basketball, and learning from Head Coach Greg McCall and his wonderful staff.

The `Runners first host a Team Camp from June 9-11 that gives high school teams an opportunity to participate in team-building exercises, improve their skills, and play some competitive basketball. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of four games with certified officials presiding over the contests. Coaches will also be able to develop their skills and network with the CSUB coaching staff. Registration for a single team, either Varsity or JV level, is $450 and must first be completed by the coach before their athletes can register.

The Youth Camp follows shortly after from June 12-15. It is designed for all skills levels and will focus on introductory skills and learning to love the game. Important, fundamental concepts will be taught like passing, catching, balance, footwork, scoring, defensive technique, and more. Registration is $150, and grades 3-6 will have their camp from 9am-12pm every day, while grades 6-8 have theirs at 1pm-4pm every day.

Finally, the Elite Camp takes place on June 17 for girls in grades 9-12. This one-day camp is an outstanding opportunity for young basketball prospects from across the country to come and showcase their abilities on a Division I college campus in front of coaches as they learn skill development strategies, breaking down the opposition, and honing their skills in competition. The camp is $75 per participant and will be from 1pm-5pm.

Spots are still available, but parents should sign up quickly to ensure their players don't miss out on the fun!
