LA JOLLA, Calif. – For the second-straight game, the Cal State Bakersfield men's basketball team earned an overtime victory in thrilling fashion. This time around, the Roadrunners did it on the road, erasing a double-digit deficit and closing out a 75-69 victory over UC San Diego in LionTree Arena.

Notables

Sophomore guard Marvin McGhee III went off for a season-high 26 points, knocking down 10-of-14 shots including going 5-for-8 from behind the arc. McGhee also added six rebounds and two assists in 42 minutes played.
Junior Antavion Collum has been on a tear recently, including a 31-point career-high effort on Thursday. The forward tallied just two points in the first half on Saturday due to foul trouble, but Collum heated up in the second half and overtime on his way to 23 points (12-of-14 FT).
After making just 7-of-23 (.304) field goal attempts in the first half, the `Runners made 17-of-23 (.739) in the second half and overtime combined.
Despite a tough offensive night, Cameron Smith chipped in 12 rebounds and intense hustle in 42 minutes of action on Saturday night.
Travis Henson tallied 14 points in just 25 minutes as he was slowed only by foul trouble.

First Half

With Henson continuing his hot shooting, Bakersfield jumped out to 15-9 advantage about eight minutes into the game.
UCSD took its first lead of the game, 16-15, with about six minutes remaining in the period.
The Tritons heated up from three-point range down the stretch, riding three-straight triples and an 11-0 run to a 29-19 advantage at halftime.
Henson and McGhee created most of the `Runner offense, scoring eight points each in the first half.
Bakersfield hit just 30 percent of its field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes.

Second Half

The `Runners trailed by as many as 13 points, before rallying, just as they did in their Jan. 14 comeback against the same Tritons team.
Back-to-back three-pointers from Dalph Panopio and Collum started a run over which CSUB went 7-for-7 from the field and pulled within two points, 49-47.
Bakersfield went on to hit 10-of-12 field goal attempts in the hot streak on the way to a 54-51 lead with 6:44 on the clock.
The two teams traded leads six times over the final eight minutes, including when UCSD took a 61-60 lead with 1:04 left on the clock.
Collum drew a foul with 37 seconds to go and hit 1-of-2 free throws to tie the game at 61 points apiece.
Bakersfield locked down the Triton offense in the final possession, forcing overtime for the second-straight game.
CSUB shot 68 percent from the field in the second half while Collum had 17 of his 23 points in the second period alone.

Overtime

After giving up a quick point on a free throw, Bakersfield pulled ahead of UCSD, 66-62, and never looked back.
The Tritons were able to make it a one-possession game a couple of times in the middle of the extra time period, but the `Runners never let their hosts close the gap completely.
CSUB got big buckets out of McGhee while Collum hit four more free throws in overtime to help seal the deal, 75-69.
Bakersfield outscored UCSD 14-8 in the overtime period on the way to a season sweep of the Tritons.
