BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield men's and women's track and field teams will be at the Sunbird Invitational hosted by Fresno Pacific as a preseason tune-up before opening up their 2023 outdoor season. Most of the women's team will be competing this weekend, along with a few of the men's team.
Notables for the Women
- The current CSUB indoor and outdoor pole vault record holder, Miranda Miller, is looking to capitalize on her historic 2022 season. The junior pole vaulter won a Big West title and was honored as the Big West Field Athlete of the Year after breaking the championship meet record and resetting the school record.
- Miller will be joined by Kassidy Neptune who finished eighth at the conference championship meet.
- Riley Slayton is set to run in the 400-meter hurdles. Last year she was the runner-up at the championship meet and narrowly missed the NCAA West first round of the National meet. Slayton will also compete in the 100m hurdles and the 4x400m relay.
- Julia Stein will be competing alongside Slayton in all three events. Stein, a two-time Big West finalist and CSUB Top 10 all-time in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles looks to build off a strong performance in 2022.
- After a great freshman year, Jazytn Greer will round out the hurdlers in competition for the Roadrunners.
- Julie Johnson and Kynnedi McCall will compete in the 400m and 4x400m relays at the Sunbird Invitational.
