Sivec's CSUB Record Gets MPSF Championship Started

ST. GEORGE, Utah – An individual school record and a Top 5 relay time highlighted the first day of the MPSF Championships for the CSU Bakersfield men's and women's swimming teams on Wednesday evening. Freshman Vili Sivec reset the program's 200 free record while the women's 200 medley relay team finished within Bakersfield's five best all-time performances.

Men

Sivec, a true freshman from Zabok, Croatia, led off the 800 free relay team with a leg of 1:34.50. His 200 free split is a new CSUB record, a mark set three years ago by Ryan Brimer (1:35.02).
Hansen mentioned the men's 200 free relay got off to a tough start as a problem with the timing system delayed their race by 30 minutes. Even still, Antonio Milin (backstroke) and Yigit Saglam (butterfly) both posted the top splits in the entire field.

Women

The women's 200 medley relay team posted the third-fastest time in CSUB history (1:41.92) in Wednesday's first event. The quartet was made up of Mikayla Popham, Chelaine Van der Westhuizen, Holly DiSimone, and Nicole Horton.
