Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bakersfield, UC Irvine Play to Scoreless Draw

Irvine – The California State University, Bakersfield women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw at UC Irvine, Sunday night at Anteater Stadium in front of an announced crowd of 597. Roadrunner goalkeeper Hollee Hercik made six saves to lift her side to a 3-6-1 overall record and a 1-1-1 mark in Big West Conference play.

Bakersfield grabbed at least one point for the fourth time in their last six games, despite being outshot 19-6 on the night. The 'Runners put all six of their shot attempts on target, forcing UCI goalkeeper Glo Hinojosa to match Hercik save for save.

First Half…
* Bakersfield had the best chance of a scoreless first half when a long ball found freshman Jette Zimmer alone at the top of the Anteater box. Zimmer's hard shot was turned aside by UCI goalkeeper Glo Hinojosa before Kalea Eichenberger's rebound attempt was tipped just wide of the right post.
* UCI outshot the 'Runners by a 7-4 margin, but Bakersfield put all four of their chances on target to just one shot on goal from the Anteaters.

Second Half…
* Neither team would score in a second half filled with defensive standouts. CSUB's best chance came on consecutive odd-man rushes from Kalea Eichenberger and Regeilly Halldorsdottir; both were snuffed out by UCI's central defense.
* The Anteaters carried play in the frame, outshooting CSUB 12-2 in the half and putting five shots on goal to Bakersfield's two.

Notable…
* CSUB goalkeeper Hollee Hercik made six saves on the night. Hercik has turned aside at least five shots in seven of her 11 games this season.
* Bakersfield is now 2-2-2 in its last six games, after starting the season 1-4-0.
* The Roadrunners and Anteaters were meeting for the third time in series history, with UCI no holding a 2-0-1 edge.

Up Next…
The Roadrunners will now return home for three-consecutive Big West contests at The Main Soccer Field, beginning with a Thursday night date against Cal Poly at 7 p.m. Bakersfield then welcomes rivals UC Santa Barbara (Oct. 2) and UC Riverside (Oct. 9) on consecutive Sunday nights.
