Women's Soccer Downed in Long Beach

Long Beach – Long Beach State scored once in the first and twice in the second to slip past visiting California State University, Bakersfield, 3-0, in Big West Conference action, Thursday evening at George Allen Field. Goalkeeper Hollee Hercik made six saves to keep CSUB close, but the Roadrunners ultimately fell to 3-6-1 overall and 1-1-0 in league play. The Beach improved to 2-4-4 and 1-0-1 on the season.
 
1ST Half…
* Elysia Laramie gave Long Beach State a 1-0 lead, when her uncontested header off a Beach corner kick found the top of the goal in the 22nd minute.
* Bakersfield's best chance of the first half came in the 27th minute when Catalina Roggerone took a pass from Kalea Eichenberger and whistled a low shot just outside the far, left post
* Hollee Hercik made three first half saves, including two in succession in the 14th minute when she snuffed out a LBSU chance with a dazzling kick save.
* The Beach put four shots on goal to CSUB's one in the first half, while both teams collected a pair of corner kick attempts.
 
2ND Half…
* Julia Moore won a 50-50 ball in the Bakersfield box and slotted a goal past a helpless Hollee Hercik to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute.
* The Beach made it 3-0 in the 88th minute when Summer Laskey finished a long run with a perfectly placed shot past a diving Hercik.
* Hercik made three more saves, finishing with six for the game on seven LBSU shots on goal.
 
Notable…
* Hollee Hercik made six saves, stopping at least five shots on goal for the sixth time this season.
* Karen Flores led the CSUB attack with two shot attempts, while Regielly Halldorsdottir and Kalea Eichenberger each put shots on goal.
* Penny Smith and Anela Nigito were the lone CSUB field players to register 90 minutes.
* Bakersfield lost for just the second time in five games, and is now 2-2-1, since returning home to face Northern Arizona.
* The Roadrunners fell to 1-4-1 in six all-time meetings with Long Beach State.
