Roadrunners, Lancers Play to Scoreless Draw

Riverside – The California State University, Bakersfield men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw at California Baptist, Tuesday evening at the CBU Soccer Stadium. The Roadrunners and Lancers tied for the second-straight season, with CSUB moving to 2-3-1 in the non-conference schedule to date. Goalkeeper Filippo Dadone made three saves to earn his second cleansheet in the last three games.

"Tonight was a well-earned draw against a good opponent," said CSUB Head Coach Richie Grant. "We were pleased with our defensive shape and attitude the entire match, and we gave ourselves a chance to win it in the end."

1st Half…
* The Lancers earned a great chance in the game's opening moments when Adolfo Pino raced up the left-side of the field and played a ball towards the middle of the box before a diving Filippo Dadone snuffed out the play.
* CSUB's best chance of the half came in the 28th minute when defender Conor Walsh pushed forward and forced a save from CBU's Nolan Premack.
* Each team registered three total shots and two shots on goal in the first period of play.

2nd Half…
* Filippo Dadone made another huge stop in the 62nd minute, stifling a quick California Baptist counterattack with a diving save toward the right post.
* Freshman midfielder Andres Perez De Gracia whistled a shot just over the bar in the 72nd minute, coming inches from scoring the game's first goal after taking a clever feed from Rene Cortez at the six-yard box.
* CBU outshot the 'Runners 5-4 in the second half, with Dadone forced to make just the one save.

Notable…
* Filippo Dadone finished with three saves and earned his second career shutout. The Cuneo, Italy, native has allowed just a single goal in the team's last 280:24.
* Bakersfield drew for the first time in 2022, and for the first time since a tie with the same California Baptist team on 09.02.21 at The Main Soccer Field.
* The 'Runners are now 2-1-1 over their last four outings.
