Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Roadrunners Blanked by Undefeated San Francisco

Bakersfield – San Francisco scored two goals in just 44 seconds, midway through the second half, to pull away from California State University, Bakersfield en route to a 3-0 win Saturday night at The Main Soccer Field. The Roadrunners fell to 2-4-1 on the young season, while the Dons remained undefeated at 5-0-2.

Goalkeeper Filippo Dadone made four saves, including three in the first half, and a sprawling kick save early in the second before giving way to freshman Damian Alguera. Jacob Fitzgerald put two shots on target, and Bryson Hankins had three shot attempts to lead the Roadrunner attack.

"We definitely played a good team tonight. We knew it would be a difficult game and it certainly was," said CSUB Head Coach Richie Grant. "The minute they had in the second half certainly separated us, but I felt that our lads never quit and we'll be a better program after facing (San Francisco) this weekend."

1st Half…
* Andri Jonasson collected a loose ball off a CSUB corner kick and sprinted the length of the field, before finding Nathan Simeon on the right-side of the 18-yard box. Simeon chipped a perfect ball back across the goal, which Jonasson walked in with his chest to open the scoring.
* Filippo Dadone stopped three of four USF shots on goal in the first period.
* San Francisco held a 9-4 advantage in shots attempted and a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks in the frame.

2nd Half…
* Andri Jonasson scored his second of the game, doubling the USF lead in the 57th minute when a bounding loose ball landed at his feet for an easy finish inside the six-yard box.
* Just 44 seconds later Arjan Dosanjh stepped into a long shot from the top of the box, sailing it past a diving Filippo Dadone, to make it 3-0.
* The Dons attempted nine more shots in the second half, finishing with 18 for the game.

Notable…
* Damian Alguera replaced Dadone in the 67th minute, making his first career appearance in the Bakersfield goal.
* Conor Walsh, Shammai Camara and Bryson Hankins all played the full 90 minutes for CSUB.
