Bakersfield Falls to Long Beach in Return to Hardt Field

Bakersfield, Calif. - Long Beach State hit four home runs as part of a 15-hit attack, grabbing a 16-2 series opening victory over host CSU Bakersfield, Friday night at Hardt Field in front of an announced crowd of 697. The Roadrunners received a pair of hits from Nick Salas and Jashia Morrissey, but managed just six total, falling in their return to Bakersfield after six straight games on the road over the past two weeks. 

Chase Luttrell led the Dirtbag attack with three hits in four at bats, including a double, a home run and four runs driven in, while Peyton Schultz was 3-for-3 with a home run and reached base five times. 

Long Beach scored three unearned runs in the first inning and three more times in the third, following three four-pitch walks to open the inning, to take early control of the game. 

The same two teams will meet Saturday night at Hardt Field, with the pitching match-up still to be determined. The first 250 fans through the gate tomorrow will receive CSUB Baseball trading card series #4 of the season featuring shortstop Aaron Casillas.
