Sweden Champion Signs NLI With CSUB Track & Field

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Men's track and field have signed Arvid Wandesjo (Stockholm, Sweden), a Swedish national champion, to a National Letter of Intent, the program's first addition for next season. Specializing in hurdles and long jump he'll join the Roadrunners this upcoming academic year.

Director of Track & Field, Cross Country Marcia Mansur-Wentworth said, "We are very excited to bring Arvid in next season. He is a Top Under-20 athlete in Sweden and an excellent student."

"His event bests in long jump and the 110-meter hurdles are good enough to be team-highs right now," added Marcia Mansur-Wentworth.

Arvid Wandesjo is no stranger to winning at a high level. He has been in Sweden's national spotlight now three seasons straight. Arvid won his first national title in long jump in 2018 before repeating in 2019. He ranked 13th in the country in the event this past winter season.

Arvid reigned as Sweden's national champion in the 60m hurdles in 2018, 2019, and is coming off a national title this past season (2022) with a personal record time of 7.98.

Wandesjo will join CSUB this upcoming Fall semester with freshman eligibility and begin training with the team for the 2023 outdoor season.
