CSUB Softball to Play Six Games, UCLA This Weekend

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After more than two weeks off from competitive action, the CSU Bakersfield softball team is ready to return to the field with one of its toughest tests of the season lined up. The Roadrunners are headed to Los Angeles, Mar. 11-13, for six games against strong competition.

"We're definitely excited about this weekend," said Crissy Buck-Ziegler, Bakersfield's 11th-year Head Coach. "We will be facing really good competition in UCLA, Fresno State, and LMU. Our girls have been training really well and preparing for this weekend."

CSUB will start the week with four games at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament, hosted by UCLA, the fifth-ranked team in the country. The `Runners will play a pair of games each against the Bruins and Fresno State. On Sunday, CSUB will head 10 miles south to face off against the LMU Lions in a doubleheader.

Buck-Ziegler also talked about the work her team has put in to be ready for this week: "We have really been putting an emphasis on our presence, taking it pitch by pitch, and focusing on how we are making adjustments. Our focus has been more on the mental game, trusting who we are and what we're all about."

The `Runners (2-6) got the season off to a strong start, earning valuable experience for its young team on Opening Weekend at UNLV's tournament. CSUB then won two of three against Pacific in its home opener to finish the first two weeks of play with momentum. Bakersfield will now put its training to the test against fierce foes.
