McCall Earns All-Conference Honorable Mention Nod

IRVINE, Calif. – With the conclusion of the 2021-22 regular season, the Big West Conference announced the postseason men's basketball All-Conference honorees and special awards Monday afternoon. After leading the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners in scoring on the season, senior forward Justin McCall earned a nod among the league's top performers.

McCall, a native of Bakersfield, Calif., was tabbed as an All-Conference Honorable Mention, receiving votes from the Big West's head coaches for his performance. The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 11.0 points per game to go with 4.5 rebounds a contest, second-best on the squad.

A potent offensive weapon, what makes McCall most dangerous on his way to the rim is his ability to score at a highly-efficient rate. He combines strength and athleticism to power his way close to the basket for high-percentage shots. Last season, McCall reset CSUB's single-season field goal percentage record with a .549 mark. This year, his modest clip of .495 still ranks him among the league's most efficient scorers.

One of McCall's many highlights of the season came just last week when UC San Diego visited the Icardo Center on Mar. 3. Bakersfield's leading scorer exploded on offense, tying his career high with 26 points against the Tritons.

McCall, Head Coach Rod Barnes, and the rest of the `Runners are headed out to Henderson, Nev., ready to start the 2022 Hercules Tires Big West Basketball Championship on Tuesday.
