Miller Wins Third Straight Vault Event at Ben Brown Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's men and women's outdoor track and field teams kicked off day one of the Ben Brown Invitational in hammer and pole vault on Friday at host Cal State Fullerton.

Miranda Miller won her third straight vault event without even taking all her jumps due to the event lasting over three hours.

Hugo Santana placed seventh in the hammer throw behind UCLA and Army West Point. His mark of 58.10m was further than any Big West Conference competitor in the ring Friday.

Julianne Finch would tie second in pole vault while Tom Richardson finished 10th in the hammer throw.

"I am pleased with how well Miranda and Hugo competed today along with their teammates, Julianne and Tom," said Director of Track & Field, Cross Country, Marcia Mansur Wentworth.
Tomorrow both Miller (long jump) and Richardson (shot put) will return to compete in day two action of the Ben Brown Invitational.

"There were very competitive fields and our CSUB student athletes stepped up and competed with very high caliber programs," added Mansur-Wentworth. "I am very proud and looking to keep it going tomorrow."
