Roadrunners Outlast California Baptist, 20-19

RIVERSIDE, CA – Albert Urias and Jacob Hansen posted back-to-back victories in the final two bouts and CSU Bakersfield slipped past California Baptist, 20-19, at Van Dyne Gym in Riverside, Friday night. The Roadrunners won for the second time in three attempts and improved to 2-6 on the season. The Lancers fell to 0-6.
 
Bakersfield opened the dual with three straight victories, including a major decision from Josh Loomer and a stick by Eddie Flores, jumping out to a 13-0 lead.
 
The Lancers responded with five-consecutive victories to take a 19-13 lead, before Urias and Hansen rallied CSUB.
 
Urias used two third-period takedowns and the ride time point to earn a crucial major decision over Johann Steinforth. His four-point victory forced a winner-take-all bout between Jacob Hansen and Caden Gerlach.
 
Hansen scored an early takedown and never trailed en route to a 6-1 decision, clinching the match for Bakersfield.
